a 15U State Babe Ruth Baseball Tournament at Centennial Park that started
Saturday at 10:00 a.m. The last game hopefully will be on Tuesday, but if the
(wrong/right) team wins the final game on Tuesday, there will be one game
on Wednesday to decide who will represent Wisconsin in the Ohio Valley
Regional Tournament. The Dodgeville team played four games and unfortunately
lost all four of them. They were respectable in each one though, with
only a bad inning (or two) causing them to go down hard!

I had great help in the concession stand. We had a tremendous rush at one
point and a couple of extra people jumped right in and helped out. We ran
out of hamburgers, but only for a few minutes; and we ran out of a couple of
flavors of soda for a short time too. Those aren't bad glitches though!

Saturday was the Iowa County Farmers Appreciation Day "Fun Run/Walk"
that is hosted by the Dodgeville-Mineral Point track & field and cross country
teams. That went over really well with a lot of entries. There was music before
the run and after the run with quite the display of fireworks going off at
dusk.

Sunday was parade day for the FAD event, and there were a lot of entries
going through the downtown on their way to Harris Park. Everyone seemed
to really enjoy all the things that went on at Harris Park. There was great
food done by the Iowa County Cattlemens Association and the Dodgeville
Kiwanis. The Upland Hills Auxiliary had great pies again. It truly is a family
affair!

The weather forecast for Sunday was supposed to be "just a beautiful day"
with temperatures in the mid 80s. The temperature was right on as was the
beautiful day EXCEPT for the rain showers we received in the early to mid
afternoon. The weather people did it again! When I got to the ball park around
8:00 a.m. Sunday, Jerry Whitford (announcer extraordinaire) pulled out his
phone and showed me the storm that was approaching our area.

There's a great little pizza place in Barneveld called "Great Scott's" that
opened up in April. Jeanie Lewis called to tell me that she and Glenn stopped
there and really enjoyed the sandwiches and talking with the "youngsters"
who were running it! Jeanie, of course, is a former employee of ours who
still covers some things for us and writes a story or two or three each year!

This Saturday evening is the Rewey Fireworks event. I can't even begin to
tell you how many people take part in it, let alone how many people watch
it. Myself, it's not for me - I'm not a firework people! Check out the photo
above though!
