A generation gap prediction
By Brooke Bechen-bbechen@thedodgevillechronicle.com
"There always has been a generation gap and as long as I can remember the younger generation has always gone to the dogs. Nowadays, things happen so much faster. Television has speeded up everything and kids know more. This great influence probably makes more of a gap than before."
I found this quote awhile back but always thought of it as interesting. It came from an edition that was printed in the late 60s.
Nohr speaks of the generation gap and how television has speeded up the way we all receive information. If only he could have known!
Replace "television" with "internet" and we could bring this quote into this day and age. Kids have continued to "know more" as Nohr stated. It could be argued that with the internet they know even more than kids with a television did in the 60s.
It is my prediction that as technology continues to upgrade and improve, the generation gap will continue to grow. I am someone who spent a good part of my younger years listening to an internet dial-up tone, learning to type quickly through the use of an online messenger service. Kids in school now probably don't even know what that means!
I'm left telling myself as I read Nohr's quote over and over...what an accurate prediction. If only he knew what was coming in the decades ahead.
