No scoring - no Dodger win

When the ball doesn't go through the hole in the bucket it's tough to win the game.
That's what the Dodgeville girls basketball team found out Friday night in a 46-35 loss to Lancaster in SWC play.
"If we shot 20% I'd be surprised," said Dodgeville coach Mark Dooley. "We just didn't shoot well. We didn't play together and didn't move the ball well."
The Dodgers trailed 25-12 at halftime with one of their leading scorers, Kara Crowley, being shut out. She finished the contest with three points on a bucket and a free throw.
Dodger sophomore Hannah Jones led all scorers with 17 points. But only four Dodgers reached the scoring column.
Lancaster was led by Ashton Doll's 10 points, but six other Arrows also scored.
"We played inspired basketball the final seven minutes," Dooley said. "Lancaster's size hurt us early, but that shouldn't bother us as we have been playing against that kind of size all season. We just dug ourselves too big a hole to start off. We tried our best to dig out of it, but just couldn't do it."
He said that bench players Maddie Stumpf, Elie Argall and Cassara Carey all did a nice job defensively.
"We have to work more on our fundamentals to get better," Dooley concluded.
