Along the Ad Routes

ever said exactly - that we had pretty close to 7 inches of that white
stuff. First it came as snow when it was supposed to be rain then sleet. Then
after a goodly amount of snow, it came as rain then sleet. Boy did that make
it heavy...man! I didn't think that I heard there were as many driving slide
offs as when we had the dusting the other day though. Maybe people either
didn't drive or thought about what they were doing as they were driving!

My New Year's Eve consisted of being here at the Chronicle office getting
caught up for this week's paper then heading home for my New Year's meal
- a couple of Ice Cream Sundae cones! I watched TV for a little while then
was asleep by 11:00 - pretty exciting in an "old man's life"!!

Since Thursday (New Year's Eve Day) was a work day I only watched the
first half of the Wisconsin/USC bowl game. The Badgers looked pretty good
in that half although they probably should have led 21-7 instead of 13-7 -
should've had two more touchdowns when they settled for field goals. Jack
Cichy was something for them on defense when he got those three sacks in
a row. I don't think I had ever heard of that happening before, but it probably
has!

I had a long talk with cousin Jeanette (Atlanta) the other day. She's planning
to head to Wisconsin this summer - maybe late July, early August it sounds
like. I really enjoy it when she's here. It's just too bad I can't spend more
time with her! They have been getting so much rain there that the "little
creek" that runs through the back of their property has turned into a small
"river"!

Well the Green Bay Packers laid another EGG Sunday night. I knew they
were in trouble when I watched a little of it in the first half as they didn't
have that "thing" about them that said they were really planning to win! They
haven't had that "thing" since Aaron Rodgers had his string of consecutive
non-interceptions broken. I really think he lost his confidence at that point
and never could regain it. They probably only have one more chance to redeem
themselves again this season, but I don't think that will happen either
- sorry!

I really got my fill of football over the holidays. I wish I could say that I
was excited about the Bowl games, but I really wasn't. There were way too
many blowouts to suit me!

Even though last Friday was New Year's Day, we held our Class of 1964
luncheon at The Red Room in Dodgeville with some 20 or so attending -
even though our "leader" Connie Hendrickson was a "no show" being in Missouri
or somewhere like that. There seems to be a growing number of people
attending who didn't graduate in 1964 and that's great. It's always good reconnecting
with people. If anybody who has connections to Dodgeville graduates
or school wants to stop by, that's great too - the 1st Friday of each month
at the Red Room! See the above photo of the "old guys & gals"!
