Several Area wrestlers will be making return trips to the WIAA State Individual Championships this week at the Kohl Center in Madison.
Wrestling between the second and third place winners from last weeks Division 2 and 3 sectionals begin Thursday evening with those winners taking on first place winners from sectionals on Friday morning.
In Division 2, River Valley's 160 lb. Elijah Alt leads the list of returnees when he finished 2nd at 145 last year. He carries a 46-3 mark into at 160 this year.
Dodgeville's 220 lb. Brady Wetter is the lone unbeaten wrestler at his weight at the tournament carrying a 29-0 record. He finished third last year at 195.
Other River Valley wrestlers going to the Kohl Center and their records are: 113 lb. Caleb Radtke, 1126 lb. Dustin Hatfield, 145 lb. Gavin Wipperfurth and 152 lb. Shane Liegel.
Hatfield was 4th last year at 145.
Missing the cut in 4th place was 106 lb. Zach Licht, a 4th place finisher last year.
In Division 3, Mineral Point's 170 lb. Scotty Pittz heads the list with a 44-1 mark. He was runner-up last year at 152.
He will be joined by teammates: 106 lb. Danny Pittz, 126 lb. Logan Schmitz, 138 lb. Brandon Forseth, 145 lb. Boone Schmitz, 160 lb. Riley Workman and 195 lb. Kyle Juedes.
Two wrestlers return to state for Iowa-Grant/Highland in 113 lb. Sawyer Sarbacker and 132 lb. Max Maylor.
Maylor took 6th at 126 while Sarbacker didn't place at 106. They are at 132 and 113 respectively his season.
Joining them are: 160 lb. Brady Peat and 170 lb. Drew Hennessey.

I thought it was a great day of wrestling," said I-G/Highland coach Ryan Allen. "It was a very tough sectional, as always. It was great getting four guys to the state tournament. Our guys wrestled well, for the most part, but I also think we left some points out there in a few matches."
In talking about his individuals he said, "Sawyer lost in the finals to a very tough wrestler but he his closing the gap and I hope we get another crack at him.
"Max lost to the number one ranked guy in the state in a very close match and then beat the number two ranked guy, so I think he had a pretty good day and again, i hope we will get another crack at him.
"Brady lost a close one to a very tough wrestler in the finals and I think if Brady can find a way to keep on the offense he will beat that kid next time.
"Drew lost to Pittz in the finals and then kind of got caught in the wrestle back and lost to a kid who we beat earlier in the year. I hope Drew can bounce back and really wrestle well at state because he is a dangerous wrestler.
"Brent lost first round but overall he had a good year. He was our only senior and his leadership will be missed."
About this weekend, Allen said, "We need to constantly attack and never stop scoring to be successful at state."
