Dodgers clear first tourney rung


Something happened at the Dodgeville first round D3 regional girls basketball game Tuesday night that hadn't happened in awhile - they had five girls reach the scoring column in a 498-35 win over Lodi.
Kara Crowley helped her Dodger teamto a 29-17 halftime lead by scoring 13 of her game-high 19 points.
Megan Pluemer and Hannah Jones added 11 and 10 points to the cause.
The Dodgers held a 22 point lead 2/3 the way through the second half , but Lodi connected on a couple of threes and another bucket tostay close.
"For the first 12 minutes of the second half I thought we were going to put them away," said Dodger coach Mark Dooley. "We were saying you're not coming back on us, but they hit a few shots and hung around."
He said he felt this was his team's best defenbsive effort of the year.
"Besides our defense, offensively we shared the ball very well. We made nice passes to people, eometimes though we didn't finish."
"We had contributions from everybody tonight. Kara and Hannah had their usual steady games and made some very nice passes to people.
Lodi was led in scoring by senior Mackenzie Ripp with 11 points while freshman Alana Gilles added 10.
The #6 Dodgers go to #3 Richland Center Friday night.
"We have to build off of this game," Dooley pointed out." Richland Center had a nice team."
