River Ridge too much for Cardinals

Highland's girls basketball team never really got things going Friday night in a 58-25 loss to River Ridge in Six Rivers West girls basketball play.
"They play such good defense. They aren't a great shooting team, but they run their offense and get good shots," said Highland coach Josh Tarrell. "Myers is a senior point guard and she runs the show. Also they are aggressive when a shot goes up there are three or four girls around the basket for a rebound."
River Ridge held a 31-15 lead at halftime.
Myers finished the night with 16 points but it was 5'11" senior Amber Patterson who was the game's leading scorer with 19. Nine of the 10 Lady Timberwolves found the bottom of the net.
Seven of the eight Highland girls scored, but Kylie Esser and Madalyn Drury both only hit six points as their high scorers.
Cardinal outside sharpshooter Jessica Kosharek was injured during the first half.
"She could've come back in, but I though it would be better for her to stay out and not injure herself more," the coach said.
"I felt Hannah McCarthy had a nice game in the second half," Tarrell pointed out as a bright spot in the night. "She is playing basketball for the first time this year and scored her first points with a basket in the second half. She also came up with a lot of rebounds. She works really hard out there."
