Iowa-Grant girls fall short against Birds

Emma Liddicoat scored 20 points to lead all scorers, but it wasn't enough as the Iowa-Grant girls lost to Darlington 61-53 Tuesday night.
Liddicoat spured a comeback with 15 points in the second half as the Panthers outscored the Redbirds 31-25, but fell short.
Darlington sophomore Kennedy Rankin hit a trio of three pointers and finished with 19 points. Sadie Fitzsimons wouldn't be outdone from long range as she nailed four. Taryn Rankin added 11 points.
"We tried to catch up in the second half, but just couldn't get closer than at the end," said Iowa-Grant coacch Craig Jenkins. "Kennedy Rankin shot the ball very well and handles the ball very well with her left hand. Fitzsimons also shot well when we didn't close out on her."
"We just didn't shoot well in the first half," he added. "They were just better than us tonight."
The Panthers host North Crawford Thursday in a make-up game and go to Southwestern Friday.
