to be like on Tuesday. I too have been checking on it about every few hours.
But unfotunately this column will be written and to press by the time we
know exactly what's going on. I have heard and seen that when it's all said
and done early on Wednesday, that we will have up to 12 inches of snow with
some rain and ice mixed in. I vote for only the snow if we get anything! All
I know is that whatever comes we will have to deal with!

I was driving along with my cruise control set at 60 MPH the other day,
heading west on US 18. I had two or three vehicles zoom past me, one on a
double yellow line. I really can't figure out WHAT THE DARN HURRY IS!
It wasn't even the end of the day when people would be in a hurry to get
home. Maybe they were late for an appointment!

I was watching the PGA golf tournament held over the weekend in Southern
California where OUR storm was brewing. On Sunday there were wind
gusts up to 40 MPH and that really played havoc with the scores. I think there
was only one player below par and two that were even par on that particlar
day. The wind was even playing tricks on putts!

I made it to the Highland Lions Club's annual Fisheree on Sunday for
awhile. There weren't really too many people out fishing when I was there
around noon. Several said they had caught a few, but others said they had
been blanked. They didn't care though as the temperatures were pretty mild
and it was just a great day to be out there. The parking lots were full, so there
were a lot inside playing euchre and other games plus waiting to see if their
name was drawn for prizes! The photo above is of a few of the people out on
the ice enjoying the day!

The annual Dodgeville United Methodist Church's "Ring in the New Year"
was held later in the afternoon on Sunday. They have a fantastic Bell Choir,
under the direction of Dodgeville School's former music teacher Dan Roble.
He really does a nice job with that group! There was also entertainment by
Dave and Matty Olson, Dawn Van Epps and Kay Van Epps, Maggie Piper
and the church choir. It was a good musical time!

I stopped at Kwik Trip South in Dodgeville to get a big mug of coffee the
other evening. There was a new clerk at the check out and she couldn't find
a 34 oz. key. One of the other clerks had to point it out for her and it was a
32 oz. one. I picked up that 34 oz. mug when they first opened here way back
when. They dodn't even make those mugs anymore. I have Duck taped it as
has cracked - but only on the outside shell - the lining inside is still intact!

It's only 19 days until pitchers and catchers report for Spring Training baseball
out west and down south. That means that spring is nearing!

Lent begins on February 10th. Boy that's early. Since I give up sweets,
desserts and soda I guess I'd better finish the quart of ice cream
