A small town
By J. Patrick Reilly-preilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com
On the 8th day God looked around and said "I have to create something that will make people feel a sense of belonging."
So God created a small town.
God saw the need for a place where people could make friends and have a safe place to raise their children.
So God made a small town.
God saw the need for a place where candidates for public office can meet and discuss the reason they are running and not only know each other but recognize most of the people in the audience.
So God made a small town.
God saw the need for a place for a hospital that emphasizes care and compassion. A place where everytime a nurse or assistant leaves your room they ask if you they can do anything for you or get you anything....and mean it.
So God made a small town.
God saw the need for parks, ball diamonds, soccer and football fields, a hockey rink and walking paths.....along with people to coach and help kids.
So God made a small town.
God saw the need for people to keep things running....councils, boards, committees, volunteers, police and fire professionals, EMTs.
God saw the need for a place for children to be educated so they can have a chance in the world and remember the caring teachers and coaches who helped them along theway.
So God made a small town.
He needed a place for people to call home and realize that could be the best place they ever lived where ever they may go. A place to return to or to move back to at any time and feel welcome.
So God made a small town.
