Along the Ad Routes

I missed talking about a note we received with a subscription renewal
around Thanksgiving time. It came from good and ol' friend Kramer "Butch"
Rock. We go back to high school days and playing softball together. He was
a member of the 1964 DHS State Championship Basketball Team and a football/
baseball player too. He lives in Green Bay where he is known only as
Kramer, but he is Butch when he's back in this neighborhood!
He said: "I send this (renewal) to you. Here's for two more years of the
Dodgeville Chronicle. Even remembered to send it to you early. Happy
Thanksgiving! Kramer Butch.
The message came on an "You're the Big Cheese" post-it-note, but he's a
BIG CHEESE in Green Bay!

We had a few things postponed on Sunday around the area due to the snow
we received Saturday and Saturday night. It seemed to be snow flaking all
day Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I think we only received about 5 inches
with predictions being as much as 10-12 inches. It was fairly cold, so the
snow was pretty light - not like the last one that was wet and heavy!

Temperatures are supposed to be in the single digits this week and more
snow is coming on the weekend. During the nights it is supposed to be below
zero too!

I had my (I can't believe it) 70th birthday the end of November. I want to
thank all the people who sent cards (12) and the FACEBOOK messages I got
(110). That was all pretty special!

We only have 10 days until Christmas. I guess I will have to THINK
ABOUT doing some shopping one of these days! People ask me if I'm ready
for Christmas and I say "Just as much as I was the day after Christmas last
year!"

We decorated a Christmas Tree for the Chronicle office the other day. I'm
not a big decorator for any holiday, so my homemade ornament was one I
found at home. I figure that was home MADE! Pat made some paper baseballs
(go figure). Here he's putting one of them on the tree (see above photo)!

The UW Badgers men's basketball team played a really good second half
against Marquette the other day. The UW volleyball team had a tough loss
to Stanford to keep them from going to the "Final Four" in NCAA tournament
play.

There are a bunch of Holiday or Winter concerts going on in the schools. I
still prefer Christmas Concert for the name, but you have to be politically
correct these days!

Oh, and the Green Bay Packers "
