Pointers can't solve Pecatonica

Three players hit in double figures with AJ Hendrickson pouring in a game-high 25 points as Pecatonica topped Mineral Point 68-46 in non-conference boys basketball play Saturday afternoon at Mineral Point High School.
The Vikings held the lead from Hendrickson's first bucket of the game.
They got to the line consistently and made good on 22 of 26 free throws. Hendrickson, a Clark College recruit, put in 11 of 12, with his lone miss going down and rolling back out.
"AJ was committed to guard their best scorer (Lindsey) and I think his defense helped out his offense," said Pecatonica coach Matt Fink.
"He is capable of this type of game. He played probably the best overall game of his career. He was active in every aspect."
Kole Kent added 15 points for the Vikes while Colton Schraepfer chipped in with 11.
Pecatonica held a 34-22 lead at halftime. The Pointers cut it to just a one point margin midway in that half, but the Vikings went on a 10-0 run to extend it out.
Pecatonica came up with a 32-24 advantage in the second half, many points coming from the free throw line.
Again, in that half, the Pointers cut it to one at 34-33, but the Vikings again had an answer with a couple of steals and rebounds that led to fast breaks and free throws.
"We had to defend the drive and the ball as well as the three point line," Fink pointed out. "I felt we did a good job defending especially at the three point line. We shot a lot of free throws and fortunately made a lot of them. They made their runs, but we answered them each time with good scoring opportunities."
Fink also said he felt his guys off the bench contributed, especially Evan Prust with seven points.
The Pointers were led in scoring by senior Chance Wendhausen and freshman Isaac Lindsey both with 15 points
."The bottom line is they were simply better than we were today in just about every phase of the game," said Pointer coach Dan Burreson. " They have a nice team and a lot of experience, but we need to be better than we were today. I thought we were a step slow all day. This is one we need to learn from and move forward."
