A night to be "Weigel Strong" at Dodgeville

It was a night to remember someone important to two communities - Dodgeville and Darlington.
It was a night to remember Luke Weigel, who lived in both communities and taught in Dodgeville.
It was a night to raise fund for the "Weigel Strong" Foundation.
It was also a night that two girls basketball teams played a contest that was won by Darlington 62-53.
Darlington's Taryn Rankin scored 10 of her team-high 21 points and Bethany McDonald hit half of her 16 to propel the Birds to a 32-22 halftime lead.
The Dodgers went on a 6-0 run to pull within four at the start of the second half.
"We did a good job at that point asserting ourselves offensively," said Dodger coach Josh Busch.
Darlington went on a run of their own and led by 20 at one point.
"We did a good job whittling it down to nine at the end,' the Dodger coach said.
Dodger Hannah Jones hit 22 of her game-high 37 points in the second half as the Dodgers held a 31-30 edge.
The Dodgers only hit 15 of 41 shots from the floor and had 34 turnovers.
"It's tough to win when you shoot like that and have that many turnovers," Busch pointed out.
"We knew they were bigger than us," he added. "We pressed them early and created some scoring opportunities. Unfortunately we didn't convert a few times that would've kept us closer. We weren't very consistent with how we handled their zone."
"We have a young rew,who works their tails off," Busch went on saying. "Hannah's ur scorer. We just need a couple more players o step up and score in double digits."
