Dodge-Point soccer shuts out the Dells

The combination of Asa Bucci and Mason Brown proved to be a good one as the Dodgeville-Mineral Point soccer team opened its season Tuesday with a 5-0 win over Wisconsin Dells.
The two figured in the first three goals of the contest.
Brown hit Bucci with a pass for a score in the fourth minute. They connected again in the 26th minute and then Bucci found Brown for a goal in the 32nd minute.
Jerimiah Beasley hit Caleb Kenney with a pass for the final goal of the first half, coming in the 40th minute.
The lone goal of the second half came on a penalty kick by Chad Yeager in the 63rd minute.
Goalie Max Palzkill, making his first varsity start, was only called upon to make two saves on the night.
The Dodge-Pointers peppered the Dells netminder with 26 shots.
"The Dells has had a team for a few years, but it has been a co-ed team," said D-P coach Kyle Glynn.
"I was happy with the result of today's game," he added. "We moved the ball very well and played good defense."
The Dodge-Pointers host Prairie du Chien Thursday at Harris Park. The varsity plays at 5:00 with the JV following.
