pretty decent crowd for it and it lasted some 25 minutes. It's always good to
see the Iowa-Grant band performing. With it being pretty warm, people were
going along the rows of marchers spraying them in the back of the head to
help keep them cool down (see above photo) - pretty good idea!

Seeing both a contingent from the Connie Johnson camp and the Rita Peterson
camp at the Linden parade reminded me of telling everyone to make
sure they VOTE in the upcoming Iowa County election on August 9. They
are the two candidates trying for the Iowa County Treasurer job. Current
treasurer Jolene Millard is retiring after ?? years!

There isn't much else for us to vote on in that election, but it is very important
to exercise your right to vote, especially when there is a new person being
elected to a county position. Besides this will be good practice for the "BIG
ONE"!

Saturday I had a good share of the day to do whatever I wanted. I was really
torn whether to head to Fennimore to watch my great-nephew Sean play baseball
or go to Madison for a "Marty" reunion. My cousin Jeanette is married
to Jack Marty, a Darlington lad. Since I only get to see them about once a
year as they come from Atlanta, Georgia I figured I'd better make the Madison
trip. I got to see all Jack's brothers - Ron, Roger (where we all met) and
Wayne, along with sister Jeanne plus their spouses and other relatives. Also
there was the Matriarch of the Marty family - Esther, just turned another year
older!
I had a good chat with Jade Black, who is Jeanne's daughter and now is
the Correctional Officer/Dispatcher for the Iowa County Sheriff's Department
and she lives in Dodgeville. In fact I ran into her with a couple of friends
at Bob's BBQ a week or so ago. I also had my photo taken with her at that
Marty reunion.

I hope to have many more years of watching great-nephew Sean play baseball
(and other sports). In fact, I have several great-nephews who should be
playing for quite some time and a few great-nieces who will be in competition
in several sports too!

The Dodgeville Chronicle is sponsoring a FREE event on Tuesday, August
16 kind of a kick off to "Dodgeville Days". It is a Storytelling Gala to be
held from 7-10 p.m. at Harris Park inside Ley Memorial Pavilion. It will feature
three professional storytellers. This is something new to the area and we
hope to have a good turnout as maybe it will be an annual event! You should
bring your own chair - Dodgeville's own JJ's BBQ will have his wagon there
with some food, snacks and beverages.

I heard that there is a new business coming to Dodgeville. I don't have any
real details on it yet, but it's a pretty sure thing!
