Shatrawka, Eagles shut down Ponies


Barneveld pitcher Sam Shatrawka not only threw a four-hit shutout at Monticello he drove in three of his team's runs in a 9-0 Six Rivers win Monday.
On the mound he finished the day with nine strikeouts and just two walks in six innings of work.
At the plate he doubled in the first and singled in each the third, fifth and sixth going 4x5.
The Eagles scored three times in the first, once in the second and fourth and twice in the third and sixth.
The Eagles had eight hits with Gage Schult getting two and Will Clausen and Trey Gordon one each.
Jacob Slaney worked the final frame in relief striking out two of the three batters he faced.
Monticello had a runner get as far as third base in the fourth, but two strikeouts by Shatrawka ended that threat.
The Ponies' Zach Price was 2x3 from the leadoff spot and Trent Siegenthaler and Kolton Shulka both had one safety.
Billy Spahr worked four frames on the mound and suffered the loss. He fanned two, walked nine and gave up seven runs (5 earned) on seven hits.
Travis McCoy finished and struck out none with three walks. He allowed two runs and three hits.
