D-P state gymnastics team honored


Members of the Dodgeville-Mineral Point gymnastic team that made their schools' first state appearance as a team were treated to a banquet recently.
The team was recognized with All-Amerian awards.
To qualify for being an All-American Team, the top 5 team scores were averaged and needed to be over 132 team points. This is the first time Dodge-Point Gymnastics has qualified as an All-American Team. Every girl and coaches on the team were honored for this award.
Team awards went to: Lauren May-All American in Floor, Bars, Beam, Vault, and All Around-First Team All State Bars-Co Most Valuable Gymnast; Tori Palzkill-All American in Bars and Floor-First Team All State Bars-Co Most Valuable Gymnast; Alyssa Belling-Second Team All-State All-Around-Received Most Consistent Gymnast Award; Ana Peterson-Most Improved Gymnast; Claire Polinag-Honorable Mention All-State Beam; Sasha Paiva-Honorable Mention All-State Vault.
"We had an amazing season and we are proud of all the accomplishments these girls have achieved.," said Dodge-Point coach Julia Oellerich. "The coaches want to thank our seniors Tori Palzkill, Claire Polinag, and Hannah Mettlach. The seniors will be missed. This program has a bright future and we look forward to getting in the gym next fall and seeing the improvements they have had throughout the summer."
