Along the Ad Routes
By Mike Reilly-mreilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com
other day. I was at the intersection of
Merrimac and Iowa Streets turning
right and a vehicle, coming from the
south, stopped in the intersection to
turn left in my direction. At the same
time a vehicle was coming from the
north on Iowa Street. Well that vehicle
stopped by the intersection with
nobody crossing the street. The vehicle
in front of me made their turn
since the other vehicle had stopped.
I waited for that vehicle to turn and
then the other one to head on by me.
The only problem was that the one
from the north that had stopped
made a left turn onto Merrimac
Street as I was waiting. I could've
made my right turn moments before all this was taking place, but that IOWA
driver didn't use any directional!

Not too long ago we had to upgrade our MAC system. I'm starting to get
the hang of it, but my EMAIL isn't what I want. I'm really getting tired of
learning about bra support, bra sizes and breast implants! Also I have won
so many rewards from Amazon, Cosco, Kohl's, etc. that I probably wouldn't
have to spend any money buying things for the rest of my life!

Saturday the 4 Amigos went to Mount Horeb to Spring Garden for breakfast.
As we were driving there around 7:30 a.m. we noticed that there was
more snow as we went east. While we were inside at the restaurant it snowed,
sleeted, rained and the sun was out sometimes when it was doing all of the
other stuff. As we were leaving Mount Horeb there was almost a complete
"White out" with snow. By the time we got to the four lane outside of the
city, the sun was shining. But the wind picked up as we were driving back to
Dodgeville. There was virtually no wind when we left in the "wee hours". I
don't think the wind let up much that day or on Sunday either for that matter!

Saturday around 10 a.m. (until noon) I was supposed to take photos of the
Madison Blaze Women's Football Team who was practicing at Harris Park
in Dodgeville. With the "nice" weather we had and knowing how windy it
gets at Harris Park they cancelled and practiced at a UW facility. We will be
doing a story on them down the road as Dodgevilleites Marsha Mortimer and
McKenzie Forseth are on the team! Their first game is away on April 9 (Saturday)
and their first home game is April 30th.

The Wisconsin Grilled Cheese Festival is just down the road to be held at
Harris Park on Saturday, April 23. That happens to be Prom Night in
Dodgeville, but the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board sets the date. The
chamber of commerce heads the event up with a good group of sponsors.
They are still looking for volunteer help for the event. There is a Thursday
set up day then two shifts on Saturday including clean-up after the event. If
anyone is so inclined to help out, contact the chamber office at 608-935-9200.
It really is a fun and interesting event that brings some 2000 or so people to
the area. That's pretty good exposure! Check out the poster above!

Monday was brother Patrick's birthday. I won't tell you how old he was,
but he definitely is OLDER than me!
