Pointers comeback to top Cards


Mineral Point's softball staged a comeback Monday to win their season opener 5-3 at Highland.
Cardinal senior pitcher Bailee Rose held the Pointers at bay and carried a 3-0 lead into the sixth inning.
Pointer hurler Savannah Lawinger struck out 12 enroute to the win.
The Pointers scored one run in the top of the sixth and then came up with four in the top of the seventh.
Destinee Kruser had two of the Pointer hits and drove in one run.
Megan Blume also plated a tally.
Highland had seven safeties off of Lawinger.
Both teams committed three errors.
