Panther softball stymies Arrows

Iowa-Grant's Miranda McCarthy struck out nine, waked only two and allowed one run on four hits in a 12-1 five-inning win over Lancaster in a softball opener for both teams.
She also was 3x3 with a two rbi double in the six run third that broke the game wide open. Her courtesy runner scored three times.
The Panthers had scored twice in the second and added four more in the fourth.
Lancaster scored their lone tally in the fifth.
Hannah Stevens was 2x3 with two runs scored and Lexi Busse was 3x3 and scored three times while also driving in a run.
Emma Liddicoat also poked a double for I-G.
"I was very happy for our first game," said I-G coach Deanna Fulton. "Miranda threw well. We had a few defensive errors, but didn't let them hurt us."
The Panthers host Southwestern Friday for their conference opener.
