Pointers take one from Cubans but not enough


Mineral Point's volleyball team picked up a win in one of their four games with Cuba City Thursday but the Cubans claimed the SWAL match 3-1.
The Pointers won the third game 25-23 but the Cubans closed it out with a 25-14 score in game four.
The Cubans took the first two matches 25-13 and 25-9.
Kaitlyn Kaiser had 20 kills and eight blocks to lead the Cubans.
The Pointers got nine blocks from Sydney Staver and six from Jalissa Weier.
Emily Wiederholt served eight aces for Cuba City and had a dozen digs. Ally Averkamp had 36 assists.
Haley Chubb led the Pointers in blocks with two. Staver had eight assists with Alayna McCarville leading with 10.
Clara Chambers had three digs for the Pointers.
