Dodgers still looking for a little good fortune

There seems to be one thing lacking in the Dodgeville football team's season.
Luck.
The Dodgers are 0-8 and are no doubt among the best winless teams in the state. They have played the entire SWC except for Richland Center and are still looking for that elusive win.
The hard-luck or maybe more like no-luck Dodgers have lost to River Valley 21-17, Prairie du Chien 35-28, Lancaster 20-12 and Platteville 27-19. Prairie du Chien is undefeated so far while River Valley and Lancaster have lost once. and Platteville twice. River Valley is at Prairie Friday with a chance to earn a co-championship or there is a possibility of a three-way tie if River Valley wins and Lancaster beats Platteville
Both those games are meaningful to all four teams. Platteville needs a win to qualify for the post season.
That leaves a battle of the winless as Dodgeville hosts Richland Center. Both teams are 0-4 in the SWC.
Dodgeville coach Ryan Bohnsack is somewhat philosophical about the rough season the Dodgers are experiencing.
"Through adversity you find yourself," Bohnsack said. "The things that hurt us the most today make us stronger for tomorrow."
"We have been challenged a lot this season and the breaks haven't seem to come our way, but we refuse to let it break us," he continued. "We believe we will be stronger tomorrow and our program is grateful for the way the players have fought this year."
It wasn't until Platteville's Jason Withrow got a 45 yard pick six that the game was somewhat in Platteville's control Friday. That made it a two touchdown game and pushed the score to 20 -6 in the third quarter.
The Hillmen went on to the 27-19 win.
Withrow followed a Brady Wetter score from the three and Jordan Olson's kick with a eight yard run. Zach White's conversion sent the score to 27-13.
Wetter capped a three touchdown night for the Dodgers with a score from eight yards out for the 27-19 final.
After a scoreless first quarter the Dodgers got on the board on Wetter's eight yard blast. Wetter's touchdown came at the end of an eight play 39 yard series at the seven minute mark.
The Hillmen got the lead 51 seconds later when quarterback Cody Schambow clicked with Donovan Blevins on a 37 yard touchdown through the air. White's kick made it 7-6 in the second frame.
At the 6:53 mark of the third quarter Lucas Fugate scored from the eight for a 13-6 Platteville lead.
Then came Withrow's pick six.
Wetter did all he could to keep the Dodgers in it with a pair of fourth quarter scores.
But Withrow's eight yard jaunt to the end zone turned the game in Platteville's favor with 4:27 to play.
Dodgeville quarterback Jordan Larson was 10 for 22 for 130 passing before leaving the game with an injury.
Jordan Olson caught half his completions for 57 yards with Josh Shepler hauling in three for 30. Houston Stanek and Zack Weber both had a catch with Stanek's spanning 37 yards.
Wetter led the ground game with 19 carries for 71 yards and three scores.
The clash with Richland Center Friday is the last game for the seniors from both teams.
