Dodger girls take North Crawford title

Dodgeville's volleyball team ran the table Saturday and captured their second tournament championship of the season.
This time the Dodgers took the crown of the North Crawford Invitational. Earlier this season they won the Iowa-Grant invite.
The Dodgers beat the host team, North Crawford, to open pool play then handled Wonewoc-Center and Fennimore to win the pool.
In the semi-final match the Dodgers beat SWC rival Prairie du Chien.
The championship matched the Dodgers with Fennimore for the second time and the Dodgers got them in two games.
The results were:
Pool Play
Dodgeville 2 North Crawford 0 25-18, 25-14
Dodgeville 2 Wonewoc-Center 0 25-23, 25-22
Dodgeville 2 Fennimore 1 25-18, 18-25, 15-10
Semi-final
Dodgeville 2 Prairie du Chien 0 25-15, 25-13
Final
Dodgeville 2 Fennimore 0 25-20, 25-20
The Dodgers had strong statistics for the day:
Kills - Katie Valeria, 40
Blocks - Katie Valeria, 12
Assists - Marissa Parkin, 68
Digs - Katie Cushman, 20, Madison Stumpf, 19, Jordyn Alfred, 15
Aces - Katie Valeria, 1, Madison Stumpf, 11.
Dodgeville coach Shelby Rideout said the Dodgers had one of their best performances of the season.
"This was a really great day for us," the coach said. "The girls really stepped up and played a solid day of volleyball. We ran a 5-1 again in order to give Kara (Crowley) one more chance to rest her leg before the last push of the season, and the girls did a great job adapting. We hit a couple bumps, which is to be expected, but for the most part they kept themselves up through every game. And best of all, they had so much fun. I was very proud of them."
