Along the Ad Routes

homecoming activities going on. Youngsters of all ages had a lot of fun dressing
up, taking part in the parade, bonfire, Queen activities, the game and
dance. I had a chance to attend quite a bit of it and was really impressed with
it all, especially the dance where the court and a lot of others were dressed
very fittingly in formal attire! Check out the court dancing (above) after the
formal group photo was taken!

This weekend marks the annual Fall Art Tour throughout Southwestern
Wisconsin - starting at Mineral Point and heading to Baraboo (or vise versa).
It features a large group of working artists who will be displaying their works
and having their studios open for the public to see what they do. I have been
on the tour in the Dodgeville-Mineral Point-Ridgeway area for the past few
years. There are some pretty interesting people among those on the tour. It's
well worth taking the route and go wherever you want! The weather is supposed
to be a little chilly, but it should be a great fall day to see the sights
and colors.

I was crossing the main street the other day in Dodgeville and walked
across without taking an orange flag. Someone yelled out to me "where's
that orange flag that you are always promoting?" as they crossed after me
and were carrying a flag. I answered that I didn't want the drivers to have
something that bright to "shoot at" for a target as they were driving along!

is Halloween day (October 31) while soccer and volleyball is November
5-7 and football November 20. Gee basketball, wrestling and gymnastics
will be starting soon!

While Halloween is only a couple of weeks away, the Dodgeville Chamber
of Commerce is getting ready to help host the annual "Halloween Street
Party" on Halloween day from 2-4 p.m. in downtown Dodgeville. Hopefully
the weather cooperates and it is a great day for the youngsters!

The new Taco Bell opened in Dodgeville Tuesday morning at 6 a.m. I
stopped there Monday to talk with the manager and they were busy getting
last minute things ready for their silent opening to friends and family!

The first Friday of every month my DHS graduation class (1964) meets
for lunch at the Red Room in Dodgeville. We also have people join us from
other graduating years and it is a good time talking with everyone - even
though I usually tell everyone "I don't know why I'm here - I really don't
like any of you!" And most of them pretty much tell me that they never really
liked me either!
