Hawks sweep Dodgers

River Valley stayed a game behind Platteville in the SWC race for the volleyball title and swept Dodgeville in three.
Scores were 25-11, 25-18, 25-14.
The Dodgeville stats included:
Aces: Marissa Parkin, 2
Megan Pluemer, 2
Digs: Jordyn Alfred, 3
Katie Cushman, 2
Kills: Katie Valeria, 4
Assists: Marissa Parkin, 8
Blocks: Megan Pluemer, 2
Ellie Argall, 2
"We had another tough week in our SWC schedule, playing Platteville and RV back to back in the same week - again," said coach Shelby Rideout. "They are great teams, and they will make you work hard for every point".
"The frustrating part is that when our girls are at their best, they do earn those points, and they do compete to win. The first time we saw these two teams we did that and fought through some close games. But this week, that spark just wasn't there," Rideout said.
Part of that was being without a key players.
"We were still with our alternate line-up, giving Kara Crowley another few days to rest her leg," Rideout said. "Our passing was by far our glaring weakness, which played a big part in our offensive struggle all night. I anticipate having a full, healthy team back to finish out our conference play, and I'm very optimistic in their ability to turn things around."
Alyssa Mueller led the Hawks in kills with 10 with Kylie Hoffman adding seven, Carmen Hood and Carly Fleming four with Taylor Briehl getting three.
The Hawks had a dozen aces and were led by Carmen Hood with five. Briehl, Sierra Schwingle and Alyssa Mueller had two each with Jerrica Hood serving one.
Briehl and Marissa Anderson both registered a block.
Hoffman had nine digs, Jerrica Hood eight, Briehl and Carmen Hood seven, Mueller five and Schwingle four.
