Dodgers come close but Arrows hold on

Lancaster football is in a state of rebuilding and their team has more than its share of sophomores.
That should be good news for the SWC.
But, Lancaster's rebuilding process includes something that very few programs have....knowing how to win.
The Flying Arrows lost big in the preseason against some very good Coulee Conference teams and had a close call with Fennimore but so far has survived tough challenges from River Valley and Dodgeville to remain undefeated in the SWC.
Dodgeville had the same fate in the preseason with their closest game a 14-13 loss to Mineral Point in a game decided in the last few minutes.
So far the Dodgers are looking for their first win but have stayed in their three SWC games with River Valley, Prairie du Chien and Lancaster. Lancaster and Prairie are undefeated and River Valley has one loss.
Dodgeville might just be the best 0-7 team in the area.
"We are extremely proud of how competitive the Dodgers are playing right now," said coach Ryan Bohnsack. "We've been in good positions in every conference game, but just can't seem to make the one or two plays down the stretch of the game. "
It took two plays at the start of the game to get the Dodgers on the board. The score came on a 70 yard pass play on the arm of Jordan Larson to Josh Shepler. Jordan Olson kicked the conversion.
The Flying Arrows then mounted a drive that ended up with a yard to go at the goal line the Dodgers were defending. Quarterback Drew Reuter stepped off the last yard to make it a 7-6 game. That was also the score at halftime.
Hard to bring down Nic Wood then put the Arrows ahead on a nine yard jaunt and a 12-7 lead in the third quarter.
The Dodgers got the lead back on a 58 yard passing touchdown that Larson threw to Olson. Olson' s kick made it 13-12, Dodgeville.
After a couple stops the Dodgers ran out of luck and Wood gave the Arrows the lead and the game after a 33 yard dash. Reuter passed to Josh Hentrich for the conversion.
With the Arrows concentrating on stopping the Dodgeville running attack Larson had a strong night passing. He completed 16 of 28 for 304 yards with eight of them going to Olson for 154 yards. Shepler caught the scoring pass for 70 and Houston Stanek caught three for 58. Brady Wetter was the target twice for 10 yards and Zack Weber caught one for 12.
Larson also picked up 23 yards rusing on two attempts Weber carried the ball 13 times for 10 yards with Wetter picking up nine in four tries. Stanek, who took a few snaps at quarterback when Larson was out after being shaken up, picked up four yards on one run.
Defensively the Dodgers got 12 tackles from Wetter, 10 from Stanek, nine from Spencer Markham and Weber while Olson and Andrew Evenson both had eight. Chance Gollon and Tanner Bockhop were in on five each while Shelby Jones and Gage Lehman had four.
