Dodgeville Chronicle all-area volleyball team


The 2015 volleyball season is history and many girls had outstanding seasons worth mention.
Following is the Dodgeville Chronicle first and second team choices.
FIRST TEAM
Teegan Pickarts-Barneveld
junior, setter, 5-6
In her first year with the Golden Eagles Teegan impressed the Six Rivers East coaches enough to earn both first team honors and Player of the Year.
Elizabeth Tisch-Pecatonica
junior-setter-5-10
Liz as first team all-conference in the Six Rivers East. She served 32 aces and had 285 serve attempts. On the attack she put down 84 kills and 40 blocks. She had 174 digs and 331 assists.
"This girls would carry around a volleyball with her all day if she could. She came into the season even stronger than last season. We asked her to run a 5-1 for us this season and she did a great job. She wanted to hit more so we switched up our offense a little to allow her to do that and she was one of our kill leaders. Elizabeth was a team captain and was voted our top hustler, Thankfully we have another year with her," said coach Tori Leonard.
Clara Moen-Pecatonica
senior-outside hitter-5-7
49 aces in 234 attempts, 123 kills, 20 blocks and 178 digs.
Clara was our go to passer in serve receive this season. We put her in the serve receive rotation as much as we could. Her passion is hitting but she developed into our best passer this season. Clara was also a vocal leader for us on the court, always talking to her teammates. Clara was a team captain and earned second team all-conference. She was voted MVP on offense this season and her strong play will be missed, said coach Tori Leonard.
Kylie Hoffman-River Valley
senior, middle hitter-5-11
Hoffman has been a four year starter for the Blackhawks and was named captain for her senior season. She was a first team SWAL choice.'
Taylor Briehl
junior-setter-5-10
Taylor was first team all-Sprawl and first team UW-Oshkosh Invitational. She was also first team all-SWC.
Alyssa Mueller-River Valley
senior-middle hitter-6-0
A first team all-SEC selection and honorable mention all-state by the Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association. She was also named to the UW-Oshkosh all tournament squad.
Jerrica Hood--River Valley
senior-libero-5-3
Jerrica was one of the River Valley captains and was first team all-SWC at the libero position.
Clara Chambers-Mineral Point
senior-MH-5-7
Clara had an incredible 231 kills and 16 blocks this season, often going up against much taller players. She served 62 aces and had an 88.6% serving percentage. Also came up with 118 digs. Clara was first team all-SWAL, a captain and a four year letterwinner.
"Clara has been an extremely versatile all-around player for us the past four years on varsity," said Pointer coach Nicole Henke.
Sydney Staver-Mineral Point
junior-s/rs-5-11
As a server Sydney put up 337 assists and had 102 kills. She also came up with 14 solo blocks and hit 20 aces. She served 88.9% and had 39 digs.
She served as captain and was a first team all-SWAL choice. A three year letterwinner she was named MVP by her teammates.
Bailee Rose-High-land
senior-OH-5-6
Bailee was honored as a second team all-Six Rivers West performer this season.
Jessica Kosharek-Highland
junior-OH-5-8
Jessica teamed with Rose to make the second team all-Six Rivers West.
Katie Valeria-Dodgeville
junior-MH-5-10
Led the Dodgers in kills with 99 and blocks with 20 in conference play and was 269 and 84 for the season. Had 10 aces in SWC play and 42 for the year.
"A dominating player at the net with excellent court awareness. Loves to play and does so all year long. Her knowledge of the game is unmatched by her peers."
Was second team SWC this season.
Katie Cushman-Dodgeville
senior-libero-5-8
A captain this season she leads by example and never asks more from her teammates than she does from herself. She steps up to any challenge, She had 93 digs in conference and 205 for the season.
Katie was second team all-SWC
Emma Liddicoat-Iowa-Grant
junior-Outside hitter-5-7
First Team All SWAL (2014/2015); She received the Team Hustle Award (2013/2014/2015). Led team with 253 kills and .226 hit pct., second in digs - 147, also had 27 aces and 26 blocks.
"She is our leader at the net and who we go to when we need a kill, also hustles all over the floor when in the back row as well."
Taylor Liddicoat-Iowa-Grant
junior-setter-5-7
First Team All SWAL (2015), SWAL Honorable Mention (2014); also received Co-Best Server Award (2015) - Led our team with 636 assists and 7.3 Assists/Set, She had 187 service points along with 36 aces & 94% serve pct. Came up with 54 digs and could hit at the net, too - 79 kills. "Emma wouldn't have the year if wasn't for her cousin, Taylor....they work well together. Taylor led our offense very well and hopefully will only get better. She became a stronger server as the season went."
SECOND TEAM
Jalissa Weier-Mineral Point
junior-OH-5-7
Had 184 kills, nine blocks, 13 aces 94 digs and had a 96.4% serving rate. She was given the Team Player award by her teammates and was honorable mention all-SWAL.
"Jessica has developed into a strong player both offensively and defensively. She is a powerful hitter."
Britt Miller-Pecatonica
senior-middle hitter--5-11
Britt served 35 aces in 245 attempts and had 98 kills in 237 tries. She also had 81 blocks and 54 digs.
"Britt is and always has been our force in the middle," said coach Tori Leonard. " She always brings the passion and desire to the court for our team. She earned all conference honorable mention, was a team captain and was voted our team defensive MVP. She will be missed."
Kailee Schraepfer-Pecatonica
senior-5-7, right side hitter.
Kailee had 34 aces, 32 kills, 11 blocks and 107 digs for the Vikings
"Kailee was our quiet player on the court who would contribute through her actions. She was one of our top serve receive leaders this season and was also a strong server with 20 plus serves in some matches. She is another senior who will be missed and earned honorable mention all-conference this year--Tori Leonard.
Sam Mabin-Pecatonica
senior-outside hitter-5-11
18 aces, 97 kills, 12 blocks and 112 digs.
"Sam was asked to play many roles this year on the court for us,: said coach Leonard. "She started as an outside hitter all-around player then she was asked to step into the middle position for awhile. By the end of the season she was back to the outside playing front row and filling in for various positions, always asking how to improve. She has improved so much this season and will be missed next year."
Carmen Hood-River Valley
sophomore-DS-5-5
Carmen was named honorable mention in the SWC this season.
Alyssa Esser-River Valley
junior-DS-5-5
Alyssa was a starter until she sustained injuries in a serious car accident part way through the season, She still earned honorable mention SWC for her fine play.
Carly Fleming-River Valley
junior-oh/mh-junior
Was the girl who knocked down the kills or got the block when the ball went away from Hoffman or Mueller.  Had a solid season for the Hawks
Taylor Owens-Barneveld
senior, middle hitter, 5-8
Owens has been one of the top players in the Six Rivers East and was named to the second team all conference two consecutive years.
Jenna Wright-Barneveld
senior, outside hitter, 5-6
Jenna was named honorable mention Six Rivers East.
Kelsee Fargo-Barneveld
senior, setter, 5-6
Kelsee was honorable mention all-Six Rivers East.
Alyx Hach-Highland
junior-MH-5-10
Alyx commanded the middle for the Cardinals this season.
Karen McMannes-Highland
junior-setter, 5-4
Karen was the hustle player and was all over the floor trying to give her teammates perfect sets. She was honorable mention all-Six Rivers West.
Kara Crowley-Dodgeville
junior-setter-5-10
had an 89% serving rate, 77 assists and 10 aces while only playing seven games because of an injury
"She is a great all-around player who could play anywhere on the court. She is a memorable player on the court for more than just her setting. She gets lots of touches and blocks, hits great shots down the line and finds smart spots for a two ball."
Megan Pluemer-Dodgeville
senior-middle hitter-5-9
Served at 93.6% and had 43 service points. She also had 35 kills and 11 blocks.
"Megan leads by example and plays by her heart. She is the queen of positivity and her hitting and blocking have improved tremendously. That is a testament to her hard work."
Madison Stumpf-Dodgeville
sophomore-OH-5-8
Had 18 aces in the SWC and 57 for the year, Her conference kills were 53 and she had 178 digs, 70 in SWC play.
"She is a go-to girl on offense and a scrapper on defense. She has surpassed our libero in digs in some of the matches.
Madison was honorable mention SWC.
Marissa Parkin-Dodgeville
junior-setter-5-8
Served at a 94.5% rate and had 50 service points along with 22 aces. She had 152 assists in SWC play and 398 for the season. She also totaled 45 digs.
"She has improved greatly and is a three year letterwinner. She is one of our hardest workers and the players look up to her as a leader. She carried us in a 5-1 when our other setter went down to an injury. She gives it her all on the court."
Marissa was honorable mention all-SWC.
Haley Yelinek-Iowa-Grant
senior-libero-5-6
SWAL Honorable Mention (2015); also received Co-Best Server Award this season, and was the sole winner of if last year; and also voted Team Captain for 2015. She led the team with 233 digs and 344 good serve receives. Served for 167 points along with 41 aces and 95% serve pct. "Haley made a good transition from being an outside hitter to the libero, and did well with the role as being the leader in the back row. Always has been a very effective server, too."
Jessica Pluemer-Iowa-Grant
Junior-middle hitter-5'9"
Received Most Improved Player for the Panthers. She had 84 kills with .220 hit pct. and then added 79 total blocks, second on the team. Served well with 144 service points, 26 aces and 95% serve %.
"Jessica made the switch to be our middle early in the season and really improved all season learning what this role involves. Was an aggressive player at the net, hitting and blocking, and then did a great job from the service line."
Mariah Ginter-Iowa-Grant
senior-middle hitter-5-9
She was second on team with 106 kills and led in blocks with 109.
"She is not a big middle, but played it BIG... definitely always battling against bigger girls on the other side. Never had a bad night."
Kristin Bingham-Iowa-Grant
senior-right side/back row-5-8
"She was a very strong serve for us with 170 service points, 34 aces and 92% serve. pct. Had 55 kills and 37 digs. She came through with hits when we needed her to and was a very consistent server at the service line."
