our GREAT country began and give thanks that it happened! Pretty much,
we eat turkey for our Thanksgiving feast, but in modern times the President
of the United States, in addition to issuing a proclamation, will "pardon" a
turkey, which spares the bird's life and ensures that it will spend the duration
of its life roaming freely on farmland!

Saturday the 28th of November is "Small Business Saturday". We will have
events going on in Dodgeville starting with a FREE movie "PRANCER" at
10:30 a.m. at the Dodge Theatre. For entry into the theatre, though, it is asked
that you bring a non-perishable food item that will be donated to the Iowa
County Food Pantry. Santa will be at the theatre when the movie lets out as
well as the singing duo of Dave and Matty Olson with a few Christmas Carols
for the youngsters to enjoy. Starting at 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 "Photos with
Santa" will be taken at Cobblestone Coffee House in downtown Dodgeville
with either a $1 or a non-perishable food item to get you a photo or however
many you want. Again, proceeds/food items will go the Iowa County Food
Pantry - they are always in need of donated food, especially during the holidays.

I had a chance to go to the Mineral Point High School musical production
of "Pajama Game" Sunday with it being held at the Opera House. The production
was great as was the setting. (see the above photo for a scene) It
really helps having a place like the Opera House to put on productions. That
is one thing really missing in Dodgeville!

Also, in Mineral Point on Sunday, was a birthday party for Ann Tibbits,
who turned 103. When I talked with her a moment she told me to make sure
I sent her a photo of her and her kids as she couldn't really see well enough
to read, but enjoyed looking at photos!

I hear rumor that we have another retail business coming to downtown
Dodgeville in the near future. Nothing is set in stone yet, but we hope it happens
soon. Also there are a couple more businesses looking in the downtown
area too!

Our first snowfall of the "winter" season took place Friday late afternoon
and went into Saturday morning. I'm thinking we received some 6-8 inches.
it was kind of tough to tell because the ground was so warm that quite a bit
melted as it hit the ground. The spots where it didn't seem to melt much and
on vehicles pointed to the amount I figured we got. On Monday, there was
still some around, but mainly due to the cold nights. We have rain in the forecast
the next few days, so that while stuff may be gone by the end of the
week. We just may be seeing the green grass again!
