Bring them home

in Afghanistan throughout much of 2016 instead of withdrawing sooner. He
had campaigned that he would be the president who could end two wars but
this decision puts a damper on those words once said.
I have some very mixed feelings about this decision. I am upset that we
have to keep our family members over there for another year when it almost
seemed promised to us that we would have them home sooner. But then I am
accepting of the fact that they are staying there to help the Afghan security
forces carry out counterterrorism operations.
But then again I am thinking why do we have to fix everyones problems?
I know I have heard people say that the U.S. seems to stick their nose in
everything and want to "help" everyone solve their problems. Or if there is
a war or disagreement going on in a different country, that country then pleads
with the U.S. to help them.
I then flip back over to the other side thinking that we need for the 2,977
victims that died on September 11, 2001. We also have made somewhat of a
mess over there so we need to clean up our mistakes and make things right
with the Afghan people and not leave their country in a big disarray.
I go back and forth several times with the pros and cons of being in this
war. I still have yet to make a decision but it looks like I'll have more time
to think it over because this war, which happens to be the longest war the
U.S. has ever been in, will not be over anytime soon.
