Grant held theirs on Saturday and Dodgeville's was on Sunday. It was a
tremendously beautiful day for the Iowa-Grant seniors while Dodgeville was
under rain pretty much the entire day! Both came off without a hitch and the
good thing about Dodgeville's was that with the rain outside that meant
cooler temperatures so it was pretty nice in the gymnasium - different from
other years when I had to go outside of the gym to cool down at times! Congratulations
and good luck to both graduating classes!

It was a pretty nice evening Friday night for Mineral Point's graduation -
Good luck and congratulations to them too!

Speaking of Friday night, I was pretty busy in the concession stand at Centennial
Park as the Ridgeway Cardinals Home Talent baseball team took on
the Dodgeville Knights. It was a great game for fans from both sides to
watch. The Dodgeville squad came away with a 3-1 win and 47 year old Bill
Hellman pitched six scoreless innings for the home team. Immediately after
he came out of the game, he came to the stand for a bag of ice for his arm!
Thanks to Lynette DeMuth for helping me in the stand - I couldn't have gotten
through the night without her!

The Dodgeville Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers to help
out this summer at the chamber office. They are looking for people to staff
the Visitors Information Center from 4-6 p.m. weeknights and from 10 a.m.-
1 p.m. on Saturdays. You can pick the number of hours and day(s) you would
like to help out. Interested people can contact Lynn Price (chamber director)
at 608-935-9200. They are looking for reliable, trustworthy people who are
familiar with the area!

Saturday, at Iowa-Grant's graduation, I ran into a person out of the past in
Jerry DeMuth - who I served on the Dodgeville Fire Department with until
he moved away. He yelled at me and thought I wouldn't remember him, but
I did!

It won't be long until the state tournaments, championships, meets take
place. They begin with the track and field on Friday and Saturday, June 5-6.
Then boys golf is Monday and Tuesday, June 8-9. We hope to have several
area teams/individuals at both events! Oh, and softball, baseball and girls
soccer aren't too far behind these!

My former neighbors Jack and Dorothy Weirich were honored at a recent
Dodgeville 9-10 year old Cal Ripken baseball game between Dodgeville #1
and Dodgeville #2. They are avid baseball fans and were to throw out the
first pitch, but Jack had recently broken two vertebrae in his neck (97 years
old) and Dorothy (92) is legally blind. Anyway their granddaughter Meggan
(McCaulley) Allen did the honors with her son Jamison catching the ball.
Jack and Dorothy received a signed baseball by both teams! See above pics.
