Pointers comeback to trip Riverdale

The Pointers learned about perseverance Thursday.
Falling behind 4-0 in the first inning on a Grimm grand slam home run, and fighting through the cool and rainy conditions, the Mineral Point softball team was able to come from behind and steal a 5-4 SWAL victory from visiting Riverdale in extra innings thanks to a winning hit from Rebekah Ottoway.
Savannah Lawinger picked up the win on the mound, allowing six hits, two walks, and striking out five. All of the runs she relinquished were earned.
Meister took the loss, walking seven and striking out 12.
At the plate, Jena Pilling was 2x3 with a single and double. Destinee Kruser went 1x2 with a triple and two RBIs. Ottoway had an RBI, as did McKenzie Schmitz and Megan Blume.
Riverdale outhit the Pointers six to four and stranded five runners on base.
