Dodgers give Prairie du Chien a scare

For Prairie du Chien's SWC baseball champions it was a matter of survival against Dodgeville Thursday.
The Blackhawks, with their talented sophomore Chas Sagedahl on the mound, had an 11-5 lead going into the bottom of the seventh and were three outs from a relatively comfortable win.
But the Dodgers felt differently. They eventually chased Sagedahl and cut into the PdC lead until they got within two before reliever Brandon Check coaxed a fly ball to end it.
To make it even more exciting for the Dodgers, everything happened with two outs.
Pinch hitter Austin Parks drilled a single through the middle and two straight walks to Trent Jones and Brian Simmons loaded the bases. Jordan Olson then singled in one run and Jordan Larson walked to plate anorther.
And that was the last the Dodgers saw of Sagedahl.
Check came in and walked two batters to pull the Dodgers within two. But he then found the strikezone and forced Patrick Husom to chase a pitch with the count 1-2 and he flew out to end the game.
Earlier Olson and Larson drove in a run each in a two run fourth. Olson slammed a double before Larson singled.
Jake Brokish pinch hit in the fifth and singled for a run and two errors helped score two more.
The Hawks jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings on singles by Dylan Yoemans, Brogan Potter and Ryan Garrity and a triple by Payton Hall. Potter's sac fly plated a run in the second.
Yoemens had a three run triple to key a four run sixth.
After a tough start Brian Simmons settled down and handled the Blackhawks for 5 2/3 innings. He fanned two, walked six and gave up 10 hits. The Hawks scored 10 runs, nine earned, during his stint.
Larson took over and worked the final 1 1/3. He gave up an unearned run on two hits. He fanned one and walked one.
Olson was 2x4 and Larson 2x3 to lead the seven hit Dodger attack. Parks, Brokish and Husom had the other three hits.
