D-P track squads at two invites


The Dodgeville-Mineral Point girls and boy track and feld team both finished second at the Viroqua Blackhawk Invitational. Some of the team also competed at the Darlington Redbird Invitational that same day.
At Viroqua, Westby won the girls portion with 137 points to Dodge-Point's 123. The rest of the team scores were: Cashton 100, Viroqua 83.5, West Salem 71, Brookwood 67, Bangor 47.5, Royall 35.5, River Ridge 19.5, Viroqua Black 10, Hillsboro 7, Necedah 1.
Hannah Owens, Mary Hanson, Mikaela Bakker and Taylor Stanek, four talented seniors, won their individual specialities for D-P. Also the 4x200 relay team captured the top spot.
Owens took first in the 1600 in 5:27 with teammate Mackenzie Hall third in 5:36.
Hanson claimed the 800 title in 2:19 with teammate Kennedy Stumpf fourth in 2:36.
Bakker bested teammate Brittany Rhyner in the 400 1:01 to 1:02 with senior Emily Philipps 5th in 1:04.
Stanek, a former D2 state champion, won the high jump with a 5'0" effort.
The 4x200 team of Stanek, Syd Staver, Madison Stumpf and Jalissa Weier won in 1:49.
Other results were: 100 hurdles: Megan Pluemer 6th 18.33, Lizzy Doolittle 7th 18.88; 100-Jaynie Gorgen 2nd 13.6, Jaycie Runde 5th 14.29; 4x100-2nd Gorgen, Staver, Madison Stumpf, Weier 51.89; 300 hurdles-Pluemer 9th 54.94, Doolittle 12th 57.42; 200-Marissa Parkin 5th 29.64; long jump-Parkin 9th 29'11"; discus-Bri Johnsrud 2nd 114', Brook Rhyner 18th 71'5"; shot put-Johnsrud 4th 32'2", Rhyner 15th 26'.25".
The Dodge-Point boys finished a distant second to West Salem 148-114, nosing out Viroqua who scored 113.
Then came Westby 92, Bangor 70, Brookwood 47, Royall 33, Necedah 27, River Ridge 16, De Soto 15, Hillsboro 12, Cashton 3, Viroqua Black 2.
Dodge-Point's Tony Rill won the 100 in 11.72. Nate Eisenzimmer took the 400 in 53.77 with teammate Payton Grunow 4th in 56.51. Jim McGuire won the 300 hurdles in 42.40 with teammates Jack Schickel 3rd in 43.83 and Micah Sprain 5th in 45.08. Steven Blume and Gerrit Bakker took 1-2 in the 800 in 2:06 and 2:08.

At Darlington the girls took 7th with 34.5 pints as Cuba City won at 145.833. The boys were 8th at 29.5 with Darlington, the winners at 125 over Monroe's 124.5.
