Highland was the first of our area's graduations and was held Saturday.
There were only 14 graduates in the 2015 class. Principal, and former Highland
grad himself, Josh Tarrell always gives a special talk about the Valedictorian
and Salutatorian - telling history and future plans about each. They
recognize the 50 year graduates and hand out about 40 scholarships to the
grads. You hear from the valedictorian and salutatorian plus the class president
and the entire program is finished in less than an hour and a half! Congratulations
to those 14 special graduates! Above, Principal Josh Tarrell
embarrasses Valedictorian Andie Hach during his talk about her!

Friday evening of this week will be Mineral Point and Pecatonica graduations
with Iowa-Grant on Saturday and Dodgeville on Sunday. River Valley's
graduation is on Sunday, May 30 and Barneveld will hold the final one on
Saturday, June 6.

The Uplands Garden Club's annual plant sale had things pretty well gone
by 9 a.m. I guess if I want to plant some flowers and plants next year I'll just
have to get there earlier! My green thumb is black though!

There was a pretty good crowd at the annual Iowa County Humane Society
Saturday for their annual plant sale. They will continue it this Saturday also.
So if you still need some plants, stop by!

The weather held off for the plant sales and also the University of Wisconsin's
graduation that was held outside, but inside of Camp Randall Stadium.
There were nearly 50,000 people in attendance. Katie Couric, well known
TV personality - author and news anchor, was the main speaker and admitted
she had a CRUSH on Frank "The Tank" Kaminsky!

Sunday was supposed to be a day of rain and thunderstorms. We may've
gotten a drizzle around noon, but that was it. Actually by mid afternoon it
turned out to be a beautiful day with lots of sunshine. This week is supposed
to be great weather with sunshine and maybe a little cooler. Hopefully this
will be great for the "growing season"!

Sunday I finally had a chance to take Judy Fortney to Bob's BBQ for a
birthday meal (for her). She had been treated nearly every day this week and
was way too exhausted Saturday to go - so Sunday it was. We toured
Dodgeville a little following our lunch and long talk. She was thrilled to see
some sights she usually doesn't get to see being from the southeast side of
Dodgeville!
