Dodgers complete sweep of Hillmen


Dodgeville's high school baseball team sent five runs across the plate in the first inning at Platteville Friday and went on to handle the Hillmen 12-5 to complete a SWC season sweep.
The win sent the Dodgers to a 5-3 conference mark with games left with Prairie du Chien and Lancaster that count in league standings.
Jake Brokish singled in two runs in the first while Jordan Olson singled in one and Trent Jones scored on a passed ball.
Levi Nagel singled in Brokish who had walked and advanced on a wild pitch in the third.
Olson doubled in Brian Simmons who had walked in the fourth. He then scored on a hit by Jordan Larson.
Simmons walked and scored on an error in the sixth.
Jones tripled in Zach Weber who singled and Nagel who had walked in the seventh then scored himself on a throwing error.
Jones and Larson both were 2x5 while Olson was 2x4 with a pair of doubles for the Dodgers. Brokish, Weber, Nagel and Simmons all had one hit.
Larson got the win with five innings of work. He gave up four hits, four runs with three earned, while striking out four and walking three. Jones finished with two hits, two runs, two strikeouts and three walks.
