Rare Ollerich mound appearance nets MP win

Tarek Oellerich assumed the pitching assignment when Mineral Point faced Richland Center for a non-conference game last week.
All the senior righthander did in his first start of the season was go the distance with a four hitter and help the Pointers claim a 3-2 win.
Oellerich fanned four and walked four in his mound stint.
Hornets pitcher Scott Dille nicked Pointer leadoff hitter Sy Staver with a pitch and he scored later in the frame on a single by Alec Schmitz.
The Pointers put another run on the board in the third when Staver singled and after singles by Oellerich and Gave Ottoway loaded the bases, scored on a bases loaded walk.
The winning run was scored in the fourth. Taylor Robinson singled, advanced on a wild pitch and scored when Staver's grounder was misplayed.
Richland Center scored its two runs in the second and sixth.
The Pointers had 10 hits. Joey Dolphin was 2x4 with Staver, Oellerich, Gabe Ottoway, Dylan MacGilvra, Cummins, Robinson and Cole Howard all having hits. Staver's hit was a double.
"We got a good pitching performance from Tarek in his first start of the year. He only gave up two runs on four hits and has a pretty good presence on the mound," said coach Dan Burreson. "All nine guys in the order had at least one hit led by freshmen Joey Dolphin with two," Burreson said. "Cole Howard played well in his first varsity start. Alec Schmitz reached base three times."
