melted! That's what took place Sunday with the first inkling of that white
stuff coming around 10:45 a.m. (It was supposed to start around 3:00 pm) It
began coming down at a pretty good clip about 2:00 p.m. and didn't really
let up until late Monday morning. It's a good thing that the ground and temperature
wasn't real cold or we could've had much more than was predicted!

There sure were a lot of slide offs early when the snow began. I guess people
have forgotten how to drive in the winter time - after all it's SPRING
now!

Brother Pat and I spent Thursday evening and all day Saturday at the Kohl
Center in Madison watching the 100th running of the WIAA Boys Basketball
Tournament. Mineral Point, making its first trip there since 1974, made a
great showing and brought home the "Silver Ball" in Division 4. They handled
Auburndale in the semifinals and then ran into a buzzsaw against Whitefish
Bay Dominican in the finals. Dominican had the co-Wisconsin Mr.
Basketball for 2015 in 6'10" Diamond Stone plus several players 6'5"-6'8"
in height and a pretty good point guard. That team would've given any of
the other division winners a "run for their money" and just may've come out
on top of the whole tournament. The Pointers, under the direction of Head
Coach Dan Burreson and company, put up a great fight in the first half, but
then found keeping up with Dominican's size tough in the second half. Congratulations
to the Pointers on bringing home a silver ball!

Saturday morning, before heading to Madison, the "Four Amigos" took a
good friend and "downtown ICON" Dennis Kopps to Spring Garden Restaurant
in Mount Horeb for breakfast. It was to celebrate Dennis' 70th birthday
- which was Tuesday, March 24th. The above photo shows Dennis (seated
right) with Dewey Christoph, Bob Kratochwill, Terry Carroll and myself
with the photo taken by our waitress - Aidia! Oh, and the food was very good
as was the service. We started going there to eat now and then when Bob's
granddaughter worked there when in high school - she's in college now.

Also, a huge congratulations goes out to the Mount Horeb boys basketball
team as they brought home the "gold" in Division 2 Saturday evening. That
was their first state tournament gold ball in the school's history. Mount Horeb
was once in the same conference as Dodgeville - back when Shep was a pup!

I understand that pending state approval we will have a Taco Bell located
near Country Kitchen on the north side of town in the near future. I know it
had been rumored to be coming here before, but this time it's a "for sure"!
