Schultz, McKeon silence Knights


Brad Schultz and Lucas McKeon combined on a six hitter to help the Blanchardville Bullets silence the Dodgeville Knights' bats 6-1 Sunday in a Western Section Home Talent League game.
Schultz posted six innings of two hit pitching. The left hander struck out six and walked three while surrendering an unearned run in the third. Mark Ludwig reached on an error, advanced on a wild pitch and passed ball before scoring on another wild pitch.
McKeon worked three scoreless innings. He spaced four hits while fanning four and walking one.
The Bullets made Blanchardville's Fathers Day Chicken BBQ a success and scored enough runs in the first inning to win. Dustin Hodgson led off with a single, advanced on Drew Schliem's sac bunt and scored on a single to left by Mike Plemling. Plemling advanced on a passed ball and scored on a single by Schultz for a 2-0 lead.
The Bullets got two more in the second. Tanner Johnson and Hodgson both singled with Hodgson's hit scoring Johnson's courtesy runner. Schliem then lifted a double to center to plate Hodgson.
Schultz walked and scored in the third on Johnson's rbi single. Devin Jeglum singled and scored on an error in the sixth.
The Knights used a trio of pitchers. Bill Hellmann started and went two innings with a pair of strikeouts, six hits and four runs, three earned.
Nic Pierick went the next four, striking out five, walking three and giving up three hits. The Bullets scored two runs while Pierick was on the mound with one earned.
Danny Sullivan fanned three in his two innings of work to finish the game.
Travis Elvert and Brian Simmons were both 2x4 for the Knights. Tanner Solberg and Sullivan had the other two hits.
Hodgson was 2x5, Plemling 2x3 and Johnson 2x4 for the Bullets. Jeglum, Schultz, Theron Theobald and Schliem had the other four hits.
