All-Star basketball kicks off Friday


Some of the finest basketball players in the state are making up two teams from each of the five divisions for the Girls and Boys Basketball Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Games.
The games will be held at Wisconsin Dells JustAGame Fieldhouse June 19 and 20.
The girls get center stage on Friday. The North and South teams from Division 3 open the session at 9 a.m. followed by Division 4 at 10:45, Division 5 at 12:30, Division 1 at 2:15 p.m.and Division 2 at 4 p.m.
The boys will follow the same schedule on Saturday.
Several area athletes are on some of the squads.
Brenna Bomkamp, a center/forward from Highland is on the D5 South team. She is joined by Katelyn Schobert, Belmont; Sara Fill, Independence; Erica Gehl, Hilbert; Morgan Horstman, Bangor; Keegan Kamps, Belmont; Jenna Langmeier, Argyle; Mara Peterson, Blair-Taylor; Jade Ramirez, Wayland Academy; and Taylor Redman, Seneca.
The South team is coached by Mineral Point's Mitch Wainwright along with Kaleen McGettigan and Frank McGettigan, Belmont.
Two Dodgeville standouts head the Division 3 South team. Guards Taylor Stanek and Samantha Crowley are joined by Taylor Baker, Lodi; Kimberly VanStelle, Oostburg; Brooke Scott, North Fond du Lac; Sarah Schumacher, Whitewater; Kari Schneiss, Kettle Moraine Lutheran; Emma Roenneburg, Adams-Friendship; Moriah Hackbarth, Lakeside Lutheran; and Brielle Greenleaf, Evansville.
The D3 South is coached by Kelly Dohse and Lisa Immel, Oostburg and Gary Kuehl, North Fond du Lac.
Two Mineral Point boys from the D4 Wisconsin State Tournament runners-up head the D4 South boys squad. Guard Sy Staver and center/forward Tarek Oellerich are joined by Cuba City's Zach Gaines, Ethan Brinkman of Howards Grove, Garrison Goode and Austin Moutry of Dominican, Owen Miller of Ozaukee, Darlington's Cole McDonald, Brett Ladsten from Blair-Taylor and Collin  Kennedy from Luther.
Coaches for the D4 South are John Rentmeester and Isaiah Ketterhagen of Ozaukee, Brad Mayer of Cedar Grove and Tim Ladron, Beaver Dam.
Dodgeville's Levi Nagel and River Valley's Brandon Gilbeck represent their schools and the SWC on the Division 3 boys squad. Others on the team are Brett Wittchow, Laconia; Riley Lytle, Poynette; Jared Jenning, Kettle Moraine Lutheran; Marquis Harris, St. Francis; Zach Kaminski, Clinton; Lewrenzo Byers, Brown Deer; Ethan Bublitz, Kettle Moraine Lutheran; and Tanner Bruchs, Poynette.
Coaches for the squad are Todd Janns of Kettle Moraine Lutheran along with Luke Meier and Lance Marifke, St. Francis along with John Riggins, South Milwaukee.
