The 4 Amigos - with Chamber Executive Director Lynn Price as a stand in
for Dewey as he was in Door County - went to "Dewey's" in Lancaster for
breakfast Saturday. Lynn would've been with us anyway as we usually pick
her up on our way to Lancaster! We heard that they were closing on Sunday,
so this was our last chance to get there. One of the owners is going to have
a baby soon and they couldn't find a cook to stand in for her. They prepare
some awesome dishes and don't want just any ordinary cook taking her place.
Hopefully, she said as she stopped to talk with us, they will reopen in a few
months, but she didn't know if she would be working/cooking with the baby
and all. They make fantastic Baked French Toast - it is to die for! Kasey
Kelly, a recent Lancaster graduate, was our waitress. I know her folks Kevin
and Kelly - I know they are all "Ks"

Sunday I worked the stand at Centennial Park for the home talent game
between the Dodgeville Knights and Oregon Orioles. Great-niece Emma
Berg and her brother Reilly helped me. The game went 12 innings with the
Knights emerging victorious 4-3. The Knights trailed, but tied it in the bottom
of the ninth and had a chance to win it at that time. The game took less than
four hours even going that many innings. It was a great game to watch, especially
with the home team winning!

Thursday (today) starts the 16-18 Year old Ohio Valley Regional Baseball
Tournament at Centennial Park in Dodgeville and at Sauk City. We hosted
the five days last year with Sauk having three days, so this year it was flip
flopped. Sauk has five days and we will have three - two days of pool play
and Saturday will be three games of round robin play. The final two days at
Sauk will determine the champions. There will be 12 teams from Illinois, Indiana,
Kentucky and Wisconsin competing. Sauk and Dodgeville are putting
a combined team in the tournament with the other two Wisconsin teams being
Ashland and Fond du Lac.

There is a lot going on this weekend around the area. Highland holds its
annual "Our Town" celebration on Friday and Saturday and Linden will be
holding its annual "Frolic" with the big day being Sunday. Saturday night is
also the annual Dodgeville Fire Department Dance inside Ley Pavilion at
Harris Park.

Pretty soon people crossing at some intersections in Dodgeville will have
flags to hold up and then deposit in a container on the other side of the street
for people to hold up heading the other way. That is a project of the City and
Dodgeville Police Department to help with safety of pedestrians to cross the
streets. I can't figure out why they told me I would have a special flag to
carry and it would say "Please hit this guy!"

Cousin Jeanette, husband Jack, daughter Melanie, granddaughter Grace
and son-in-law Mitch were here on Thursday and wanted to go to Bob's BBQ
for lunch, so we made it there around 1:00 p.m. We only had about a 10
minute wait and Jeanette got to see Jan Kobbervig, someone she remembered
