Two state tournaments here this weekend
The 11 year od 50/70 state tourney will take place at Harris Park Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.. Five teams will compete for two spots in the Ohio Valley Regional at Galesburg, Il.
The tournament director is Kathryn Heimerl, Dodgeville Recreation Director. She will be assisted by the Dodgeville Recreation Staff who will do the groundskeeping and some of the umpiring.
The 11 year old teams are part of the Cal Ripken division of Babe Ruth. Sam Halverson, Jeff Garthwaite and Josh Busch are the coaches.
Team members are Grant Roh, Ayden Halverson, Dillon Garthwaite, Drake McVay, Garrett Busch, Dylan Wasley, Tyler Bradley, Louden Fuerstenberg, Gehrig Lawton, Drew Palmer, and Thomas Lundell.
Janesville and Middleton start the tourney off at 10 a.m. Saturday. Mount Horeb and Dodgeville are next at noon. The Janesville/Middleton winner plays Green Bay at 2 p.m.
The two winners from Saturday play at 4 p.m. Sunday as do the losers of game one and two. The winner of the 4 p.m. plays the loser of the winners bracket 4 p.m. game at 6.
The loser of game 5 plays the winner of game 6 at 9:30 a.m, Monday and the winner of that game plays the undefeated team at 11:30. If the tournament needs an extra game it will be Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
The 15 year old schedule starts with Sauk Prairie facing Stevens Point at 11 Saturday morning. Dodgeville faces Northwoods (Rhinelander area) at 1:30 pm. Eau Claire and Marinette meet at 4 p.m. Cross Plains and Green Bay wrap up the first day of games at 6:30 p.m.
There are 6 games Sunday, three Monday and one or two on Tuesday.
The Dodgeville team includes: Will Borne-Mumm, Josh Gorgen, Ben Radosevich, Ethan Bowers, JJ Thompson, Frank Stroncek, Tanner Bockhop, Kole Zajicek, Brandon Molldrem, Joey Recob, Shelby Jones, Cooper Stewart, Riley Glonek, and Braeden Vivian. Coaches are Brent Molldrem, Bob Radosevich and Matt Thompson.
