Panthers wake up the D against Riverdale
It was from the defense.
"The last two games the defense really woke up," Tripalin said. "We played good team defense and our defensive pressure made the difference."
The Panthers led 16-12 at the end of the first quarter then turned up the pressure for a 23-5 second frame run. They went on to take care of the Chieftains 63-45.
The aggressiveness allowed Isaac Anderson to get loose for a 17 point performance, mostly in the first half. Trent Milliken added 14 and Caleb Hill 12 for three Panthers in double figures.
"They shared the ball well and made the extra pass," Tripalin said. "When they threw a zone at us the second half we handled it well through our execution."
"We were on the attack mode all night."
Tripalin credited Collin Price and Milliken with controlling the boards, especially on the offensive glass.
"They were really active," said Tripalin. "They took away the second chances for Riverdale."
"We had some early foul trouble and when we went to the bench we got some excellent minutes," said Tripalin. "There was no defensive let-up."
Tripalin added that Brayden Johnson had a good second half as did Caleb Hill.
Montana Lins and Brett Hach tried to keep the Chieftains in it with 16 and 15 points.
