Along the Ad Routes

(between Highland and Cobb) Sunday and boy that wind was pretty darn
cold. I put on my boots to keep my feet warm and a sweater to keep my
upper body warm. My legs usually don't get cold. But when I had to take
my gloves off to write down names and take photos, my hands became really
cold. I have special gloves that were given me to use when it's colder outside,
but do you think I had them with me?!!! Anyway, I survived it OK -
just had a little bit of cold hands when I left and arrived back to the office.
It looked like a pretty good turnout for the event - named in honor/memory
of Dean Olson, a Highland Lion and businessman who always did a lot of
work before and at the fisheree! Above, is a view of the lake with fishermen
and ice shanties on it.

I also went to the Dodgeville Methodist Church's "Ring in the New Year"
concert that featured their bell choir. Besides the Bell Choir playing, the
choir sang and several people sang songs and played piano music. It was
quite the event! Afterwards the Methodist Youth Group served a lasagna
dinner as a way to earn money for a mission trip. It's great to see the youth
active in the area!

At our staff meeting last week, brother Pat talked about my "nerd" boots
when I said I was going to the fisheree Sunday. When I went to put my
boots on Sunday, I put them on the wrong feet. I guess "nerd" boots are a
good name for them - or maybe it's the person putting them on!

This Sunday is the Super Bowl - supposedly the football game of all football
games! I really don't care for either team - Seattle Seahawks or New
England Patriots. Seattle's running back Marshawn Lynch was fined $20M
for making an obscene gesture after scoring a touchdown - something he
was warned about doing before the game. Duh! I guess money doesn't
mean anything to him! They have Russell Wilson, who played quarterback
at for UW Badgers, so that's a plus. Then, New England - they are in the
underinflated football investigation (soft balls) and were involved in spygate
before - cheaters?!!! They do have former Badger James White (running
back) and Jonathan Casillas (linebacker), another former Badger on
their rosters. Maybe there will be something else for me to watch at the time
that game is on or maybe I'll just do some housework!

Oh, if the Green Bay Packers were playing, I'd watch - but unfortunately
they're not - but should be!

Speaking of the Packers, I read where split end Jordy Nelson negotiated a
new contract before his old one expired and he could join free agency.
Anyway, it was for something like $7.5 million a year. He was asked why
he didn't go for more or test free agency. He said that was way more money
than he'd spend in a lifetime, so why? Now there's a SMART professional
player!
