One more step toward outright SWC title

It took until the third quarter for the Dodgeville boys basketball team to pull away from Platteville and stay in first place in the SWC with a 54-44 win.
It took a big play from senior guard Levi Nagel to put the Dodgers into the lead at halftime. Trailing 23-22, Nagel took the ball, drove the court and hit a crisp three pointer with time expiring at the end of the half. That put the Dodgers up 25-23 at intermission.
Nagel also played a big part in the 19-14 scoring difference in the third quarter with a three pointer. Riley Berning also hit a key three coming off the bench.
The Dodgers closed out the game with a 10-7 difference in the fourth frame.
Nagel again played a role with four points and penetrating to create opportunitys. Kevin Jones made four of six free throws and Jordan Larson added a pair of successful free tosses for the 10 Dodgeville points.
Defensively Ryan Raess came up with a clutch blocked shot in the fourth quarter and Caleb Grady continued strong defensive play.
"Levi did a nice job attacking the basket and creating opportunities for others," said Dodgeville coach Ryan Bohnsack . "Caleb was critical in rebounding and defensive pressure."
Grady also added eight points to the Dodgeville attack.
Nagel had 16 and Jones 15 to pace the Dodgers. Chance Kupersmith had 16 and Blake Wagner 11 to lead the Hillmen.
