Change and thank you
By J. Patrick Reilly-preilly@thedodgevillechronicle.com
Sometimes it is accepted well and sometimes not. Change is hard for
just about everyone. When it happens it takes some time to get used to
it.
This month there will be change in the Dodgeville downtown business
district. Two businesses are affected, one being Paint Plus and the other
Linens and Accents.
Paint Plus owners Royce and Bev Reukauf are retiring after 34 years
and have sold the business to Jim and Sue Coatney. It will be different
to not ask Royce or Bev a question about painting or decorating so getting
used to new faces will be the order of the day. Royce and Bev were
honored last Friday and made sure everyone knew the new owners embrace
the same type of business practices and will do a good job for the
communities served.
That is good news and we wish the Coatneys well.
The other business, Linens and Accents, was started by Florence
Crubaugh and Janet Hess 35 years ago. Florence later became sole proprietor
and is closing the doors the middle of the month. A recognition
event will be held at the store February 18 starting a 4 pm with people
asked to come and share their memories.
Florence is another gem who treats everyone well. Her store was responsible
for bringing many people to the downtown business area.
Plans call for her daughter, Terry Olson, to expand her antique business
into the entire store.
Will Royce and Bev and Florence be missed?
Definitely.
What is needed now is to say a hearty thanks to both business owners.
They have made the community a better place.
