Pointer girls knock off D3 Platteville
Chambers hit a three pointer out of transition to start the game and then buried another from downtown a few possessions later as the Pointers led the Lady Hillmen 37-27 at halftime.
Chambers scored 12 off her 25 points in the first half.
She had a scoring battle with Platteville's Sierra Brecke, who hit 13 of her 25 before intermission.
Pointer Jessica Schultz then had a scoring battle with Lady Hillmen Skye Digman in the second half, outscoring her 12-9.
Schultz finished the night with 18 points while Digman had 15. Claire Tashner added 10.
"Platteville is an extremely talented team and forced us to play at a high level the entire night. I don't' think the score really shows how much they made us work both offensively and defensively," said Mineral Point coach Mitch Wainwright. "Sierra Brecke gave us all sorts of trouble scoring inside and out. I thought Destinee did a good job making her work for every point she got, but I wasn't expecting Sierra to be able to score like she did. We made some adjustments at half that slowed her down a little and forced her to give the ball up more."
He added, "Clara Chambers got the scoring started for us. Jessica Schultz had 12 of her 18 in the second half really helping to keep the game out of reach. McKenna Reichling had another solid game coming off the bench and added 9 points, all in the first half. It was a nice win against a Division 3 school."
