Dodgers start fast trip New Glarus

Senior Katie Cushman jumpstarted her Dodgeville girls basketball team with a pair of three pointers as they dropped New Glarus 60-45 Tuesday in non-conference action.
"Katie hit two threes early and had two others that went down and came out," said Dodger coach Mark Dooley.
He was impressed with his girls' win over a Glarner team that came in 7-1.
"It was a nice win for us to take us into the New Year," he said. "We played within ourselves tonight."
He said Hannah Jones, Kara Crowley and Megan Pluemer played their usual steady games.
"Hannah had a lot of assists trying to keep everyone involved. Also, Ellie Argall did a great job rebounding. Cassara Carey and Maddie Stumpf both played outstanding defense and Boroke Rhyner gets better each time out, the coach said."
On the night, Jones hit 13 points and Crowley, coming back from an illness, added 10 - but it was Puemer who led all scorers with 20.
New Glarus was led in scoring by Tamara Elzen's 14 points with McKinley Righter adding 11.
The Dodgers go to Brodhead on Monday, January 4 for another non-conference test.
