RV's strong 2nd half shocks Dodgers

Aggressiveness is what the River Valley boys basketball team needed in the second half to overcome a two-point Dodgeville lead.
That's what Blackhawks coach Luke Thatcher said was the key to their 61-49 win Thursday night in SWC action.
"We got much more aggressive offensively in the second half,Thatcher said. In the first half we just kind of stood around."
He said the two teams have had a good rivalry the past few years. "It's new for somme of the young guys on both teams though."
After the Dodgers took their 28-26 lead into halftime, the Blackhawks came out and quickly were up by 10 points.
"Once we got up by 10 fairly early in the second half, we just kind of traded baskets with them," he said.
The second half run was keyed by Hunter Schwingle scoring 15 of his team-high 20 points.
Thatcher also said the Alex Wedige hit a big three for them. He scored seven of his 12 points after intermission.
Dodgeville's Trent Jones led all scorers with 22 points with 10 coming in the first half.
"Ryan Wickman was kind of a game changer for us," Thatcher said. "He guarded Jones and to say he held him down when he got 22 points may be a stretch, but he made him work for every point and Jones made some awfully tough shots."
Dodgeville coach Matt McGraw said, "We played a fairly close 1st half. In the second half River Valley controlled the game. They got great looks at the basket and when we got our good looks we were not able to convert. Shooting under 30% from the field is not going to win many games. We can learn from every game especially from the frustrating ones. It's important to see how our guys will respond after a frustrating night. I have confidence it will make us better in the long run."
