Platteville girls surprise Dodgers

Dodgeville's girls basketball team scored just seven points in the second half as they dropped an SWC contest at Platteville.
"Platteville just plain outplayed us," said Dodgeville coach Mark Dooley. "They hurt us on the offensive boards. They had a good game plan and executed it almost perfectly. We were slow moving on defense. We didn't execute our offense. We just didn't get it done tonight."
The Lady Hillmen led 39-30 at the half and then outscored the Dodgers 27-7 in the second half.
Platteville's Sierra Brecke led all scorers with 26 points while Katherine Kasper added 16 - both hit three pointers.
Dodgeville was led by Hannah Jones with 15 points.
Usual leading point-getter Kara Crowley was held to seven and fouled out with about 5 minutes left in the game and sat a lot in foul trouble.
"We also shot poorly, Dooley said. "We have to go back to the drawing board and get refocused. We need to play the way we did against Richland Center. We just have to count this as one game and go on to the next one."
The Dodgers host River Valley Thursday in SWC play and travel to Sauk Prairie Tuesday for a non-conference contest.
