Cardinals lose intensity

Highland played with a much taller Shullsburg team for nearly the entire first half, but in the end Thursday night they dropped a 60-32 Six Rivers decision to the Lady Miners.
The Cardinals led 18-17 with just a little time remaining in the first half, but five straight ponts by Hattie Rennert gave Shullsburg a 22-18 halftime advanage.
"We came out with intensity amd ready play," Cardinal coach Josh Tarrell said. "We had a couple of turnovers near the end of the first half that they scored on and we never recovered."
Shullsburg went on to score 38 second half points and ran away with the win.
"They got into our heads in the second half and we let down our defensuve guard. We couldn't come out of it," Tarrell pointed out. "Leahy was just to big and tough for us. We couldn't keep her off the glass, especially with the offensive rebound."
Leahy (Brianna), a 6'1" sophomore led all scorers with 22 points. Rennert, a junior, added 11.
Highland was paced by Kylie Esser with 13 and Jessica Kosharek with 12.
"Kylie had a great first half for us," Tarrell said.
